The Wooden Gymnasium was the first building constructed by Wilson College.  It was completed in the summer of 1877 and according to the college's catalog that year was "40x60 feet, and [was] furnished with Rings, Dumb-bells, and other needful appliances."  Students were required to do physical activity everyday either during the "walking period," as part of organized sports or in physical education classes taught in the gym.
