Designed and built as a retirement home in 1920 by Dr. Samuel A. Martin, president of Wilson College 1895-1903, Magill House was occupied by the Martins for only one summer before Dr. Martin's death.  It was quickly sold to Penn Hall Preparatory School and became the home of Dr. Frank S. Magill for whom it is named.  Dr. Magill served as the president of Penn Hall from 1911-1947.  After the closure of the school in 1973 the campus was purchased by Wilson College at which time Magill House became a part of Wilson.  Since the 1970s it has been used to house faculty, administrators, and visitors.  In 2012 it became home to the Department of Communications.
